You will note however that the article in the Ventura Co. Star is entered by the public at large and is not a product of the newspaper itself.

The article is poorly written. Among other things, it specifies no dates. Great quote: "We know we are due for a winter storm sometime this year." Really? A winter storm in winter? Sometime this year? Dang, whoda thunk? Imagine that! A winter storm in winter. And it could happen "sometime?" Wow.

Interestingly, the NWS makes no mention of the "historical" (sic) event on their website.

I wonder if they linked to that article mistakenly assuming that it was produced by the newspaper.

I've heard of the Drudge Report but don't know it's reputation. Does the report have a reputation for accuracy? Or is it more of a sensationalistic "news" site.

I would say more sensational than accurate. He puts out tons of links to high profile (and other) stories. A reader needs to be able to filter. I won't comment on where the OWS story fits in -- we'll see.

Wow! I forgot about the posts AlanK referred to earlier. It just goes to show you that all you need to have is access to some sort of a media outlet and it spreads like wildfire. This is kind of scary. Makes you wonder who to believe anymore.
