Snow report on trail this weekend?

Postby kjmc » Sun Nov 23, 2008 1:37 am

Hi:
Can someone tell me how much snow there is on the trail above long valley this weekend? I plan to lead a group of newbies to the summit on tuesday 11/26 from upper tram station, weather permitting. This group would not have crampons. How is the trail currently for hiking shoes/boots?
Many thanks, Kevin

No snow from the tram to the summit yesterday, 11/22. I'd definately expect the conditions to change week (and for the better, in my opinion! :D ).
3 of the 5 voices in my head are telling me to "Go for it!"

High winds and snow are forecast for Tuesday.

I'm looking forward to the snow too.

Snow report on trail this week end

Postby Cy Kaicener » Mon Nov 24, 2008 2:40 am

Channel eleven news says that snow levels will drop down to 7000 feet during the first storm and 5000 ft during the second storm over the week end.
The National Weather Service (posted by Halhiker) is more reliable.

Howdy KJMC,

This National Weather Service link gives the weather for the top of San Jacinto:

Tuesday: A 50 percent chance of showers. Cloudy, with a high near 37. Windy, with a south wind between 20 and 30 mph, with gusts as high as 45 mph.

Brr...

Miles of smiles,
