I am thinking of starting up at 5:30 or 6 am. Where is a good place to park and how do I get back to my car later.....do people group up and rent a cab or something ???

Tera, i park at the museum. i have them call a cab at the top of the tram so it is there when i get back. it usually runs around $23. i might share a cab with another friend of mine that is going up tomorrow, i think we just have to play it by ear but if time permits the more the better because we can all share a cab making it cheaper.

Howdy All :-)

Karin and I are hiking Skyline tommorow and leaving about 4:30 AM. I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone on the trail -- it's been a while. We'll decide whether to hike the full C2C based on the weather in Long Valley. It looks like we'll have the weather I'd hoped to have in the Grand Canyon.

Miles of smiles,
Ellen

Wow - lots of people heading up tomorrow - it sure will be nice to say hi to everyone.

That forecast sure makes it look like I will need less water but more warm clothes than I originally thought.

Hey Ellen, I was actually planning to hike the Grand Canyon R2R2R this weekend! But I got spooked by the low pressure system passing through (highs in the 40's/lows in the 10's, possible snow) so now I might do C2C instead. Hope to see you guys on the trail. I'll be solo if I end up going.

All of the regular Skylies were on Skyline today :D
Stan (Zip), Ellen, Kathy, Karen, Scott, Tina, Mark, Norris, Doreen and myself.
The weather was perfect like a winters day without snow. It was 32 degrees
at Long Valley at 11.30 am. I started at 3.15 am and shaved almost an hour off last week's time. There was hardly any wind at Long Valley.

It was just about the perfect Skyline day, huh Cy? By the way, you had a fast time today - I wasn't surprised to see that. When we saw each other I noticed that you didn't look the least bit tired: Impressive! So what's your secret? Hot babe at the top waiting for you? :D

Like you said, it was nice to see everyone. Kathy, Doreen, Ellen, Karin, Tinaballina, Mark. Fun meeting kd, sfhiker, Tina's two triathlete friends, and quite a few other folks that I met after all the energy had left my body and I didn't get their names.

By the way, it was my first time this season, and I had a great time, but I admit my legs felt dead at the top. Somehow, Skyline always kicks my butt. I was trying to hit a specific time, then ran right past my cache and had to turn around and go back to find it. Didn't help my time too much! Ah well, no complaints here.

How was everyone else's experience? Tina and friends, did you 3 break 5 hours? (Tina, I think they're right. If you'll carry less than 40 lbs of licorice you'll most likely see a decrease in your overall time. :) )

See you all on the trail!
