C2C on 10/11

If the weather cooperates I'm planning to do Skyline on Saturday. I did it last Saturday, leaving at 5am when it was 68, and the sun didn't appear until I arrived at Flat Rock. Came in under 6 hours for the first time (my fourth time up Skyline; 5:57).

I want to try c-2-c for the first time and am considering doing it on the 18th. All depends on the weather though. I'm definitely not doing either if it's too hot.

Thanks for the offer. I am keeping weekend of the 18th as a summer-ending backpacking trip with my SF friends in Yosemite. For the past 2 years, I have been doing cloud's rest and half dome backpacking loop ans the last summer trip, and it's becoming like a tradition

I'd still hike up C2C this Saturday, I don't think I'd have too much of a problem following trail. It's just that there are so many warning posts everywhere!!!

I'd be totally cool to change the start time to match yours and KDs. It'd be nice to have some company on a long day.

We're going to try to start at 4 am. I'm not a fast hiker; so I anticipate it will take almost 8 hours to get to Long Valley.

I'll be standing at the museum trail head at 4 in the morning waiting for Kathy and KD and anyone else hiking up C2C.

Hey all you first timers, give me some feedback after you do the hike cause I'm a first timer doing it next weekend, thanks!

Okay everyone: Because it looks like it's going to be a cool and windy day on Saturday, we've modified our starting time to 4:30 am to allow for an extra half hour sleep.

So, anyone that wants to hike up as a group is welcome to meet kd and I at the Palm Springs Museum at 4:30 am. Once we start up the mountain, we might find it makes sense to split into groups based on speed just as long as nobody is left behind alone. As I stated before, I'm not real fast so my pace up the mountain will be a steady but moderate.

The national weather service forecast says it will be in the 50's when we start out, but it might be down in the 30's and windy up between Long Valley and Mount San Jacinto; so rather chilly. We're going to decide if we want to go on to the summit when we get to Long Valley depending on how we feel and what the weather is like.
