Clarifying the trail at the peak

General Palm Springs area.

It's interesting, the odd hijacking twists this thread has taken.

If you go back and read the initial post, the idea was clarify the official Forest Service Trail so that first-timers coming from the tram would be less likely to get confused and end up lost.

There was much talk about cairns leading off trails, which had nothing to do with the topic.

There was a bit of personal confrontation, which had nothing to do with the topic.

There was even a bit of football talk, which had nothing to do with the topic. (Although the topic of football has been rather productive, as USC has spanked everybody they've played this year!)

It has now come to this:

"Rock piles placed on the trail are a nuisance, and not a natural part of nature. People who think like you are the same ones who painted dots on the C2C trail a while back---people who can't figure out with a map/compass/gps how to get to where they want to go."

Now I know that was really directed at a different USC fan, but it's kind of funny, since I freely admit to suggesting that I would be willing to help the Forest Service clarify the trail at the peak, even if it meant using the unthinkable: rocks.

The funny part is this - I am not the one who painted the dots on the trail a while back - I'm one of a couple of people who did cleanup of those dots in the weeks following so that they were all removed in short order.

Does anybody see the irony there? :D

Anyway, it's all fun, and I've enjoyed the posts and the silly controversy. I like the way robpollard put it - all this about moving a pile of rocks around to show where another pile of rocks is!

Yeah! And the other, much larger pile of rocks is so obvious that the only way to miss it is to have your head down looking for small piles of rocks. It's like thoose cartoons showing a detective with a big magnifying glass following a trail of microscopic clues and walking into a brick wall.

In keeping with the theme of this thread I honestly thought your Trojans would be losing to the DUCKS. Who'd have thought they'd go down to the Beavers?

And they still have Stanford, too!!

It's great to be a Trojan!

I've been out all over the city wearing my USC FOOTBALL T shirt and SC hat!
Everywhere I went people laughed and asked why are you wearing that stuff today? Almost got em. 8) I just started a light conversation with them and all I wanted to know was what team they rooted for. And guess what. EVERY ONE WAS A UCLA FAN!
Ya see ucla fans when they lose hide! They only wear their stuff after a game they win. THAT'S THE DIFFERENCE MY FRIENDS.
Oh, and I did see many USC FANS wearing their colors as well to which I yelled, "Hey, your team lost" they just laughed.
It's great to be a TROJAN! (IT JUST NEVER ENDS!) 8)
