Especially after tiring your legs going uphill, its hard for them to have enough left for so many eccentric contractions on that unstable stuff.

There have been a lot of vehicle break ins reported in the East Fork area (where one parks to access "Big Iron"). Some people leave all the windows down and the car unlocked with nothing valuable inside.

How about one of these things?

It's got shocks and brakes.

Tina. Earlier this year in January, I went up that trail alone.
When you get way up there you will go under some trees in flat spots. Like this stuff.

Just past this spot I found these right on the trail!

I have pretty big feet so look how big those tracks are!

Still gives me the creeps when I relive that!

I'm not trying to scare you, just showing what I saw when I was all alone up there.
Don't think you will be thinking about your car, poles, pants, calfs etc at this point!
THANK GOD FOR ADRENALINE!
Another thing that you gotta watch out for is on your way back down from the summit. Stay to the east or left on the way down.
You may not notice on your way up but just before the last steep part before the summit there is a ridge that comes up from the left (west) and on your way back down you don't want to go that way. So on the way back down stay to the left (east) and go back the way you came up. Please pay attention around this area. :D

A hiker talking on a cell phone on Mt Whitney fell off the trail down a cliff

Somehow I feel no sympathy.

Incidentally, since he's so good with his cell phone, shouldn't he have called for help?!

Equally odd, doesn't it seem strange that the person he was talking to didn't call?

Hiker: "So, like, I'll see you in a while dude. I'm, like, almost back down the mountain, and like, ....Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh! Whumph! "

Silence

Friend (of comparable intelligence) on the other end: Dude! What was that? . . . Why aren't you, like, talking, dude? . . . What were all those noises like you fell off mountain? I'm not falling for it man.....Okay, then, dude, like, I'll talk to you later. Bye."

Click.

I only wish someone could have caught it on video and posted it on You Tube!

It seems like the cell phone was not the only dumb mistake he made. He was coming down the trail in the dark.
