Kathy - I think there are a couple of peaks on Langley SE flank which aren't officially named. From Langley heading SE, the first is the Fin and then Woolyback. The Fin is about 12.7K', and Woolyback a bit taller (according to my GPS).

This might have been covered already -- I just noticed that Rick Kent had a busy August. His Whitney 24x was 8/3/2008 and 25x was 8/23/2008, and he squeezed 4 days of Sierra Challenge into the middle of the month.

I'm thinking about a one way run from the Cottonwood Trailhead up across San G and popping out at the San Bernardino Trailhead instead. If I do it (and survive, it'll be kinda long) then I'll post. I might wait until the weather is cooler, but I'm hoping to do it before the first snowfalls.

i know this is far off the subject but i am planning to do iron mountain next saturday, anyone done it before?

Tina - There are several Iron Mountains - is it this one?

If so, the answer's "Yes". It's a full day, lots of elevation gain, and lots of sharp yucca to watch out for! Some of it is on use trail, but it's pretty obvious.

Nope, no shorts! Think Kevlar...those yucca plants are pointy.

The TH is a bit odd - from where you park you squeeze thru a gate, walk downhill on a road for a bit and then make a right onto the trail. I believe there's a sign/kiosk near this turnoff.

I've done Iron a couple of times. I wore pants on that trail the first time, but it got so hot on the way down that I was happy I had the zip off pants on and I took the legs off. The hardest part about Iron is coming down that steep ridge to the saddle.

The flowers are beautiful along that trail in the spring.
