Howdy All

I know I'm not alone when I confess that I'm having symptoms of Walt withdrawal.

Walt -- where are you? I agree with Z-dude -- I miss seeing you on the trail and reading your posts.

I think he was traveling and then busy with work. This time of year, it's less-motivating to hit the low-desert trails because of the heat. It's just not as much fun as during the cooler months. I did Skyline a couple days ago, and it kind of sucked.

Wow. It hasn't even been THAT hot this summer. Of course, I never do Skyline in summer. I can't see the allure.

Anyway, went up the Tram today and hiked with my nine year old to the Peak. Left the Tram at 2, got to the Peak around 5, got back to the Tram at about 7:45. Had some TERRIBLE food at the Peak Buffet but despite the gross grub the trip was awesome!

Oh, and I taught him to kick over a couple of ducks while we were at it.

I'm still here and still checking in every so often. Jean and I have been very busy but are still doing training hikes. Primarily we head up Lykken at Mesquite in the early evening and Murray Peak before sunrise.

We sure to bump into you on the trail as Oct brings in some cooler weather.

I haven't been on Skyline (or any lowland trail) since June 1. It will be wonderful to see you on the trail again when the weather permits.

Howdy Perry,

Skyline in the dog days of desert heat? Ugh! I remember one of my hikes last year when it was 88 degrees at the museum at 2 AM. It took me forever. Won't do that again.

Speaking of heat, hope it won't be too dreadful for Baldy next Monday.
