I also did Baldy on Saturday. MIght have seen some of you there.
My first time, so I kinda took it easy - took the ski lift up and then hiked the Devil's Backbone trail. Left the notch about ten to 9. Summit at about 11.
Probably about 40-50 people on the peak at a time. Seemed more coming from the ski hut trail than other trails. Amazing the variety of people doing this hike, biker dudes in tennies to uber technical type A types.
We've all met annoying cell phone guy before in our lives; well, on the peak I met annoying loud ham radio guy. While I appreciate the usefullness and the geekiness of ham radio; this guy talked very loud and I found him too annoying. Shirt off is also not a good look for him.
After eating and resting, I felt pretty good so I wandered over to West Baldy and then returned to the peak. Then I began descending and went up the ridge to Harwood for good measure. Back to the notch about 2:30 and headed home.
