Skyline on the 5th

Postby tinaballina » Thu Jul 03, 2008 8:56 am

I am thinking of doing skyline this Saturday, starting at 3am to hike up and meet Doreen at the tram by 8:30.
Is anyone interested in doing skyline with me?

Sitting here in 75 degrees (Fairbanks) wondering how anyone could contemplate hiking C2T in plus 100F, even if starting at 3AM. One tuff (or reptilian) lady Tina. Remind me, if we ever git a chance to hike again, to spend a few weeks in the sauna before hand.

okay, i was the ONLY, stupid person on the mountain Saturday. i started a little late because the person i was going to go with flaked. didn't start until 5:15-5:30, finished at 11:23. it was really humid, but the heat was tolerable. about 40 minutes into the hike, between the two signs i saw two ram, it was really cool. then a little further up i ran into a jr. snake, he was camouflaged between two rocks right in the middle of the trail. i contemplated how to go around him and didn't wake him wake him up, thank goodness!
I have now done skyline 10 times this year....
Sid, we will have to do a true c2c when you come back.

Skyline on the 5th

Tina - You have to be really fit to handle Skyline in this heat and with such a late start. Even the snakes look for the shade. I hope you are not training for the Badwater to Whitney race next week end. http://badwater.com
Its a good thing its too late to register.

Joking aside - if you can handle the heat Tina - something like Badwater could be for you eventually. That would be a great goal to work toward.
