Incredibly excellent weather and trail conditions made for a great backpack for our troop.
We left Humber Park at ~4:00 pm, hit Saddle Junction ~ 6:15 and were in Laws Camp by 7:30 pm. Candy's and Willow Creeks had excellent water flow. Willow Cr. should be around through the summer. Mosquitoes were practically non-existent at Laws but Ranger Andy reported thousands at his overnight near Skunk Cabbage Meadows. Our first night's temperature was 46° while Sat night's low was only 51°.
Saturday afternoon was spent at Caramba Falls. The water was running high and it was cold! The Caramba trail was littered with quite a few downed trees but all were passable. We moved two trees but the rest will require saw work. On the overlook above the Falls someone had stayed the night and made a mess of the place. Apparently, they buried their trash in a freezer bag only an inch deep and an animal had dug part of it out of the ground. There was plastic, Mountain High shreds, and wrapper pieces scattered everywhere. We took it all out. If, by chance, the camper who left this mess reads this piece: You deserve the Idiot-of-the-Year award!
Anyhow, we took the Willow Trail back to Saddle Junction and down Devil's Slide on Sunday morning. We did this hike in a leisurely three hours. This was certainly a great way to spend the Father's Day weekend.
