Wow, great time! My first time up 3 weeks ago was 5 hours 15 minutes but that was almost all night hiking (cooler). Now I feel I've set the bar too high for myself! Next time I'm just not going to check the time and just assume it's ok. :D

Thats a great time in this weather. When you have to keep going to keep warm your time will be even more remarkable. How much water did you need?
Thats better than 1500 feet per hour (with a long almost flat middle section)

Hi Cy,

I wish i would have brought 3 liters, it would have been perfect. i brought 2 liters and big thing of gatorade, went through it all. i am fine normally on two liters but with the heat three is ideal.

Outstanding, time, Tina. I'll look for your roadrunner style dust cloud next time I'm out that way.

FAST.
Where exactly do you start timing yourself? I'm guessing the wall? and where exactly is the finish? Is it the flat part at the top or at the concrete walk way?
How many times have you done it now. And what was your first time? How long ago? Thanks.

I started timing myself as i am walking towards the trail, from the museum parking lot. i call the finish as i am going between the two rocks at the top, just as you reach the ridge. I make phone calls to let some people know i made it okay at that point and then take it all in. the flat part and concrete walkway don't count, at least for me because i take my time walking up to the tram.
that is my fastest time, before that was almost a month ago at 5:22. That was my 8th time doing skyline.
I am possibly planning to do a complete C2C June 22nd.

Faster and faster! Impressive!

I measure my start and finish the same way you do - either at the wall or on the way to it, and then at the ridge just as I go over it.

By the way, adding speed as an element can make Skyline more fun, but I only go for a PR (personal record) about once or twice a year. You're eating up those PR's like M&M's! Excellent!

By the way, if you cache water in a couple of places (say at 5 miles and 9 miles) then you can just wear a hip pack. During the summer, this makes a huge difference, as a backpack always seems to make it hotter, and heat saps energy away.

Also, I find I move way faster and feel much lighter if I'm not carrying anything in my hands, so you may notice that helps you as well. So, if you feel like going slower one weekend, you can carry a bit of extra water, and cache any that you don't need.

Anyway, have fun on the 22nd!
