Anybody heading up tomorrow? I understand there's something brewing up higher right now.

A few of us were, but it looks miserable up there. At 9.30am I drove up to the Tram Station to take a look - I was going to go up but it wasn't worth it. It was raining, I could see less than half way up, and the temp at the top was about 30F. Looked much worse from there than it does from the desert floor where I live (five mins from the Museum). Right now (12.30pm) the Tram Station is covered with threatening looking clouds.

Kind of ironic as on Sunday we did Skyline and it was too damn hot...

Thanks for the update Mark. I was expecting something like that. Let's see if this cold front is going to add a little extra spice to the hike.

There's no such thing as miserable conditions. The mountains are beautiful under a clear blue sky just as they are beautiful under heavy cover of fog, clouds and snow. Two different worlds, same mountain.

Agreed, but there is a slight chance of thunderstorms and therefore lightning. Fog, clouds, and snow I can handle. It's those 10 gazillon volt electrical discharges that are a real downer on a hike.

Hi Tina - any idea what time you are starting tomorrow if you do decide to go? If the weather doesn't deteriorate too bad, I'm thinking about heading up at 6am.

Hi hikers,
Did the "Big route" today, almost whimped, turned out excellent, 6:45 start, a bit muggy (was sweating a bunch), couple hrs. of sun, a slight breeze, from 5k on things smelled fresh, not cold till traverse, 20% coverage of 1" at 8k, 80% of fine, micro hail gently coming down, could always see the trail, 33 at 11:30am at Mt. Sta.
It may be way different by Sun morning, know the trail in case it gets covered, bring some warm clothes.

Hi Kevin, ended up going Sunday instead. it was great weather up until we hit traverse where it became cloudy. Much different from the sunday before. by the time we got to long valley it was 35 degrees. Went up with Mark, met Nano (nice meeting you by the way) and another group up towards the top as well. Not sure ify ou made it up on saturday, let me know how it was.

Got to the Tramway Road around 8am Sat morning and decided to turn around and head over to Joshua Tree for some rock climbing instead. Got some classic routes in over the long weekend. C2C will have to wait for another weekend.

Thinking to myself here... To climb a mountain, one must climb back down, correct? I'm just wondering why people are not encouraged more to do C2C2C. Just a "purist" mountaineer thought.
