c2c This Sunday 5/25?

Hi!
I was going to go to the Sierra this weekend to hike but the storm that has already started dropping snow is changing my mind.

So looking around for better weather and a good day of hiking I am thinking about doing c2c on Sunday. Is anyone else out there planning to hike from the museum to the summit that day?

That weather forecast changed my plans too - we were headed for Shasta this weekend, but it just doesn't look like a good weekend to go up there. It will probably end up being a great weekend up there and I'll be kicking myself for cancelling my plans on Monday.

I'm thinking about the Skyline Trail for Sunday or Monday too. If it gets cold enough there might be a dusting of new snow up there in the mountains - it was raining when I left Redlands this morning and I think it was raining in the mountains.

It's snowing right now in Big Bear and more snow is possible for the next few days in the San Bernardino and San Jacinto Mtns. The NWS is predicting thunderstorms accompanied by lightning. Not saying you shouldn't go, but just be aware of these things.

How could this be?... a three day weekend and storms everywhere! Kathy if you come up with any wildly brilliant ideas let me know.

Jim: You are so right - it is very important to check the weather forecast before heading out.

Norma: I'm torn between Skyline, San Gorgonio, or heading out to Mojave Perserve to climb Edgar and/or Mitchell - just depends on how the weather looks.

I just went up to the sign at 1700' and back. At 11am it started raining fairly heavily for ten minutes. The Tram Station was covered in black clouds. It was 68F at 9.15am - my goodness, what a difference from last Sunday/Monday...

All the people going up on Saturday can give you a good idea on what conditions are like up there. Rick and Cynthia were thinking of going part way today. Norma - Kurt Wedberg just reached the summit of Everest. It was either yesterday or the day before.

The forecast doesn't look bad for Sunday - it might be a nice day out there; so I'll probably give a try instead of San Gorgonio. Let me know if you decide to head out that way. I might only go to the Tram because I haven't been doing many long day hikes lately and my legs might be done when I get to the Tram. I guess I could take the tram up on Monday and do the section from the Tram to the summit, so that I can say I did C2C instead of C2T.

I've been getting the emails from IMG on the Everest Expedition. I am so happy for Kurt! That is so cool. Twice on top of the world. Can't wait to see his slides and hear his stories when he returns.

Like you i will kick myself if i stay here and things clear up in the Sierra. Ranboze called today as she was passing through LP on her way to Nevada. She said the Sierra looked beautiful with a dusting of new snow. I have a permit and was going to do Thor on Sunday and she said, go for it! I will wait and see what develops with this storm. My car is packed and i am raring to go somewhere. If things do look better for the Sierra are you interested in heading up there or for sure staying south?

If i do decide to do c2c on Sunday, i will probably leave for PS before the group posts their TR. If you don't mind giving me your ph# offline, i would like to call you to find out what they post. Do you know if anyone had been using crampons near the summit recently. Have they still been necessary? I know this could all change with this storm.
