I'll be out there starting around 4am by myself. Glad to hear there will be so many other folks on the trail...

Skyline this Saturday May 10

Postby Cy Kaicener » Sat May 10, 2008 1:31 pm

Jack P and I left the museum at 3.15 am and got to Long Valley at 11.00 am.
15 people passed us including Zip and Jackie, 12 of whom were going for the peak. One of them said that he passed 27 people. It was hot and there was at least one casualty. At Flat Rock one of the Outdoorsclub people was dizzy and feeling sick. We saw two rangers on duty one of whom hiked down to the distressed hiker to give him aid. He passed us and was going faster than he should have. We were lucky to get a ride back with another hiker called Charlie. Tina - sorry that we didnt wait for you. We were told that you were a long way back.

Cy,

I'm glad I finally got to meet you--the legend of C2C. :D

I'm curious to hear more about the casualty. Was it heat-related?

What a great day on Skyline! Had a chance to meet a bunch of good people, and see others that I've already had the pleasure of meeting.

Hey Cy, nice seeing you, and I noticed this in your posting: "It was hot and there was at least one casualty. At Flat Rock one of the Outdoorsclub people was dizzy and feeling sick." Hmmm. I spend most of every trip feeling dizzy and sick! I thought that was par for the course...

A few people (Karen, Roxanne, Lyle...) I met said they read the postings but don't generally post. Hi to all of you!

Tinaballina - nice meeting you in person!

Sadly, there was no sign of FIGHT ON! Must have been home kicking back, eating potato chips, watching TV...well, maybe next time!

Anyway, see you all again out there soon.

Zippetydude - It was nice meeting you and many thanks for lift back to the museum. Your super-hero-like time up Skyline is truly inspirational :)

Jackie - I have not heard anything more about the distressed hiker whose partner was really worried about him. We will know more when there is a trip report on http://www.outdoorsclub.org/calendar (So Cal) or

Cy: I passed 3 people at Flatrock a few minutes before I ran into you and Jack - but none seemed distressed. I kind of just ran through the area, though, so I probably wouldn't have noticed unless someone was lying down.

Lance - I neglected to mention having the chance to meet you - my walnut-sized brain was tired after the run, and I was thinking only of who I had seen on the trail. I enjoyed the conversation, and would love to trade stories and hit the trail together sometime.

Also - Jackie, I guess I didn't catch up to you? I've seen your postings, and though we'd meet on the trail as well. I got kind of a late start, or maybe you just went flying up that trail too fast...

FIGHT ON - what's the August date?
