Rancho Mirage looking to close trail access

I am usually opposed to closing access to trails but this is the one instance where I actually support the closure of a trailhead. There are viable alternatives and there is nothing of scenic or historical interest to justify leaving this trailhead open. The sooner they close it the better.

The Desert Sun only touched on a portion of what really is happening. The State Department of Fish and Game will be closing off a significant portion of bump and grind within the next few months due to bighorn habitat.

The recent trail re-route from behind the Desert Crossing shopping mall will be the new "bump and grind" trail but only climbing 700 feet over about a 4 mile loop. New trails maps will be out in a few weeks.
