Time to "FIX" the Skyline "trail"

I never mentioned any other hikers names. I only gave my point of view in agreement with dbstein313's post. You mentioned other hikers names.

I've only done C2C once and I thought it was pretty interesting. I actually like looking at the city as I went up because it gave a sense of scale to how high I was climbing. It kept blowing my mind that I started way down there by the museum. But I also like looking down at the earth in general, even down at civilization. Well, except for looking down at urban sprawl, which is depressing.

I would not recommend anyone doing Skyline now unless they are experienced climbers with technical experience and the appropriate equipment like the right crampons and an ice axe, and with someone who has done it before. Even then, check out the trail from the top first to see what conditions are like the day before. (if possible)
This trail or route can never be "fixed" until it is recognised.
An emergency shelter at 7200 feet should be considered.
There is a right time and a wrong to do it and fitness and preparedness are essential.

I've done C2C 4 times. But actually I've only done "C2C" once - and C2C2C the other 3 times.

I've done the Grand Canyon Rim to Rim once. I've done Rim to Rim to Rim 5 times since.

Completing a hike of this sort to me means hiking up and down the same trail. Getting back to your vehicle by hiking back.

C2C means Cactus to Clouds. I prefer to hike Cactus to Clouds to Cactus.

Grand Canyon Rim to Rim is the same thing. The only one time I did only Rim to Rim I had the same complaints you all have about the restaurant at the tram - and the lodges were even more overpriced for nothing special.

C2C2C impresses me. Rim 2 Rim 2 Rim impresses me even more.

Taking a tram back down from your hike doesn't. Not completing a Rim 2 Rim 2 Rim doesn't.

I can understand the need for a shuttle service if you are doing a long hike like the JMT.. But going up and down a mountain should be just that.
