I'll be there after half a Skyline. I am looking forward to seeing old friends and hearing the latest happenings.. I found the location after googling Victoria Park - Palm Springs.

To get to Victoria park take Hwy 111 or N. Palm Canyon to Racquet Club Rd. Go East on Racquet Club for about 1 mile. The park is on the north side just past the fire station.

The party is a great idea. Unfortunately, I will be spending that weekend in the Windy City (and I am not referring to the wind turbines outside of Palm Springs). :cry:

Hi Walt, Please add me to the list. I also plan to come early to re-hike the last 2.5 miles of Palm Desert to Palm Springs trail. My GPS toy ran out of batteries and I don't have data for that section when I did it with the Coachella Valley Hiking Club in January.

Mark N., a recent arrival, has promised he will attend. He was a little hesitant to 'invite himself' as he didn't know folks. I just want to URGE newbies to attend; we definitely want as many new people or never-met friends to attend as possible. I also want to join Walt in urging SAR folks (from whatever venue or organization) to attend so we can fawn on you in person! This is NOT a 'clique-type" private party but a public event where we can toast Ellen and meet new friends/hiking partners. It is going to be a very low-key and simple park bar-b-que and no one will feel uncomfortable; if you don't like it, you can just go jump on the kiddie swings! With every event like this, we strengthen our community. So please, newbies and others, do come! Just be sure to post/respond so we have an idea of how many might show up, and please be sure to bring a "side" dish--salads, dips, cheeses, beans, etc.

We hope to see lots of new faces there!
