Desert Sun Shrinks San Jacinto To 8,500ft

They are so consistently wrong that it is stunning. I would think that they would have a Facts Sheet about the mountain they stare at each day.

Again?

Perhaps we should send them a press release:
Flash! This just in! Effective Jan 1, 1,000,000 BC, Mt San Jacinto has an elevation of 10,834 feet. Previous reports of elevations of approximately 8,500 feet have been found to be in error. All publications having used the incorrect figure are urged to print an immediate retraction.

This is helping me a lot. I go up San Jacinto and get all winded and so on. Turns out it's over 2000' higher than planned. What a relief! :D :D :D

Well, actually it was me not halhiker (or did I miss something?), but thank you. I just thought I'd put into a form that they would understand. :)

Oh, duh. Yes, I liked Hal Hiker's response as well as a couple of the others thereafter. Ellen was definitely doing reasonable things in reasonable conditions.

The marines that were trying to do Skyline, starting in the 9:00 hour (!!) without the proper gear were not doing something reasonable.

I knew Ellen wrote books, but I didn't know she consulted for the Lakers and Angels. Sheesh, next time I see her, I'll have to ask for her autograph!

Lastly, some accounts say "frostbite." I hope it's not too severe and doesn't result in an impairment of any sort.

It's back up to 10,834 feet now, and Ellen made the front page headline today:

The people who commented appear to not understand the circumstances. Those who know little of mountains are quick to form opinions.

Those who know little of anything are quick to form opinions. At least, that's my opinion. :)
