Hi hikers,
I wonder if Ellen attempted to go through Tamarack on the way up to the peak, knowing she's had difficulty there before (at least in the dry).
Now that I've seen some postings here (thanks for that), she may have followed some foot prints off the main trail (what's still visable, which may be nothing w/ the wind).
I'm quite familiar w/ the east face of Miller, it's steep, and in yesterday's conditions, would have been impossible re. wind coming from the San G pass area.
Several people in the last couple years have left the peak on a easterly heading (I.e. boyscout / locals route), miss the shelter hut & not even get to the saddle at Miller (where the 2 long traverses meet on the main tr.).
I just spoke w/ a friend who snowshoed to Wellman's & 1 mile beyond on Sat afternoon, and she said the trail after Wellman's was quite vague, with a few tracks heading down into Tamarack.
Looks like the WX has improved considerably this morning.
