How many hiking trail miles is it from Deer Springs (starting at Hwy 243) to Fuller Ridge Jct (PCT)? How many miles is it from Fuller Ridge Jct to I-10? Thank you? Any water source on the Fuller Ridge Campground or Snow Creek?

Deer Springs to Fuller Jct about 7 miles, Fuller Jct to Black Mtn road about 5 miles, BM road to I10 is 20 miles. People sometimes leave water bottles at Fuller Ridge campground but otherwise a dry camp. There is a water faucet at Snow Creek. Best source for water info is sanjacjon.com.

Correction re Fuller Ridge campground at Black Mtn road: The BM road is not currently open so there's no chance you'll find any water bottles. So basically no water from Deer Springs trail until Snow Creek.

Florian, so if I'm doing my math correctly its approximately 22 trail miles from Deer Springs (hwy 243) via Fuller Ridge via Snow Creek to I-10? I plan to pack my own water but just wanted to confirm the mileage as there are different calculations on different apps.

No, not 22 miles. More like 32 miles. (7+5+20) And no water for about 20 of those miles but you may be able to melt some snow/ice along Fuller Ridge.

Half way would be around Fuller Ridge camp at Black Mtn road. Might be snow to melt if you go soon. Probably be other PCT hikers there.

Hiking Hunter,

In case you forget the sheet of paper you wrote Florian's numbers on, all the distances are on the Tom Harrison San Jacinto Wilderness map:

https://tomharrisonmaps.com/product-category/southern-ca-maps/

Available in both paper and digital form. The digital maps are pdf files that work with the free Avenza app, available for both iPhones and Androids. When you are on the long run down to Snow Creek, you can check your location on your phone. To celebrate how far you have to go, or sit down and cry.

Ed, thanks for the info. If I don't get this done soon will probably wait until August or September. Thanks again.

You sound like you're prepared and have done your homework...go now! You can always go a second or third time later, it's a beautiful section of trail, but since you are prepared already, go ahead and go! I have never looked back and wished I had taken more time once I was ready, but I have looked back and thought, "I wish I had just gone ahead and done it." Enjoy. And post pics of your adventure when you're done!
