Advice on tackling Rabbit Peak

The wind of the desert...I tell people of it and all I hear back is you should have gone on. I like a great task and a difficult hike but when the wind starts blowing it starts to suck!!!

I understand and perhaps when you decided to head back I'll join you and bring friends!

Looking for some advice/opinion...

Is March a good time of year to dayhike Villager from S22? Is it a good hike to view desert flowers? Any idea what the temperatures will be on a weekend like this upcoming one - temps in L.A. in the mid 70's? Thanks in advance.

1. I, my wife and a SJ ranger hiked south from Toro Peak, over Rabbit and Villager to S22 on a 3-day in February a few years ago. Less e.g., more variety and way more interesting. 2 gl minimum of water each. A full moon is very helpful.

2. The east side locals horse water onto mid-elev Rabbit, then hike up later, carrying way less weight.

3. Even easier: With huge reluctance, I admit that Don Landells - may he rest in peace - took my wife and I and 2 SJ rangers to Rabbit on two successive Easter Week outings. We spent each week exploring the upper Santa Rosa Mts. Exited south over Villager the last two days, to S22. The meadow 150' east of Rabbit Peak is a great camp site. Sometimes there is snow there for water. We cached 12 Millers there for our next trip.

I can hear the outrage already, but you did ask for ideas. SanJack

I want to hike to Rabbit Peak per the message info by Kathy W through Villager Peak and back tomorrow Saturday. I've never been on that hike before. Does anyone know if there is snow up there? Or is it a good idea to do it before the Tstorms? I am not against turning around before the top for any reason. Anyone going on that trail tomorrow? Any advice would be great. Thanks. FIGHT ON.
