Looking for fellow hiker(s) that will be doing this trek in the next couple of weeks. Anyone out there interested?

Hey Hiker_klaus,

Im planning on doing it march 25th. I'm planning on bringing microspikes for traction above 7000' and planning to start around 4 am.

Hello! I will be doing C2C on Saturday, May 26. I'm planning an early start via the museum trail at around 2-3am.

May? Are you sure? That's pretty late in the season to do it. It's often too hot to do it by then.

Now, maybe you're an experienced desert ultra-runner, in which case I'll shut up, but even very fit hikers shouldn't try C2C or even Skyline in hot weather unless they're very experienced with very steep, hot desert climbs. Just my opinion.

I think it is borderline. I've done Skyline on May 26, but it was an exceptionally cool day, Palm Springs High/Low = 79/54. The seasonal average looks more like 95/68, which is about the hottest I've done it.

But everybody is different, and reactions can vary. I thought it was quite hot on the middle section recently - Saturday March 5 - at 82/59. I am still puzzling over that. Maybe it is time for Cynthia to contribute here.

Oops! Sorry, that was a typo -- I meant MARCH 26. I did Skyline a couple of years ago, but I'm in considerably better shape now and I'd like to do the full C2C.

Ha! OK, that makes more sense. 8)

To plan on late May seemed odd to me. I mean if you're local and you see an unusually good weather day, then, sure, jump on it. But I personally wouldn't plan for May. The weather can't be counted on to be cool enough then.

I agree. Glad to see it was a typo. It may snow again before March 26, I hope so. But if it does not, conditions should be ideal.

Saturday 26 March would work for me. I would be traveling from Yuma, get there Friday & explore the first part of the trail in the day time. Then early Saturday morning (between 2am to 4am latest) would commence the trek. The following is part of what I will take with me:
Hike boots & microspikes for the snow/ice & runners for 1st part, Trecking poles, thin gloves and ski gloves, clothing layers, Delorme emergency tracker, 2 flashlights, obviously much agua, etc.
I believe I'm in pretty good shape .. Did Yuma half marathon, & still training for full marathon 1st May.
Again, to those who have responded & anyone else out there advise or give me a call at 808-276-7605.

Good luck.

Interesting choice to carry both boots and trail runners, but there is quite a bit of snow above 9000 (as of this past weekend), so, understandable.
