Conditions from Idyllwild to Peak

Postby dmteaton » Fri Feb 12, 2016 2:06 pm

Heading up tomorrow and just wondering what snow conditions have been. I was there during the storm a few weeks back, but we've been at 85+ in the IE this week. Looking to to Idyllwild or Marion...I'll decide later.

Snowshoes or Crampons? Both?

Cheers and thanks!

This morning I walked from the tram station to San J peak. I used only microspikes and poles but snowshoes would have been really useful. I encountered zero ice and the snow softened a lot by the time that I made my descent. I would take the snowshoes for sure. Good luck.

Thank you! Glad I delayed a day as I might have not brought the snowshoes!
