Seeking Santa Rosa expedition partner

Postby House of the Crow » Thu Nov 12, 2015 12:07 am

Hello guys,

I am planning a challenging cross-country hike into the remote Santa Rosa mountains from early December 20th to noon on December 24th, and am seeking a partner (or several) to share a unique wilderness experience in my favorite place on earth. Because I am a new dad, with an infant son, I have promised my wife that I will find a partner to go with me to be safe.

ABOUT ME:
I know the area well because I grew up next to these mountains and regularly hiked them when I was younger. I believe in maps and preparedness plus good attitude, and am well-equipped with my own gear. I am a 35 year-old professional man, educated, friendly and laid back, in decent shape, trained in emergency first aid and preparedness, embarked upon a fairly difficult cross-country trip with 5000 feet of wilderness elevation gain and loss on this expedition. I have written a book on this range.

SEEKING:
I am seeking someone respectful of the dangerous power and stunning beauty of the Santa Rosas, with a positive attitude, backpacking gear you use pretty regularly, background with the Santa Rosas or Anza-Borrego/San Bernardinos, and cross-country overnight desert experience. The route I have carefully planned has a fairly steep and difficult cross-country route with 5000 boulder-strewn feet of untrodden wilderness elevation gain and loss. Part of the way we will slowly and carefully ascend with 10 liters of water to a dry camp at nearly 5500 feet in the mountains. There are no trails. There are dramatic cliffs, cacti, animal sign, a full moon, hidden water sources, winter weather, plus more.

The trip philosophy: Safe, slow, lightweight, adaptable, and respectful of the resources and ever-present dangers of the desert mountains.

PM me so we can talk.

Sincerely, Ethan
Far away; flying home.

Can't do a trip at this time but love the Santa Rosas. Would be interested in reading a book on the range. What's the name of your book and how do I get a copy?

. Ditto that. Love and fascinated by the Santa Rosa mountains. Lots of Cahuilla history.
