Fuller Ridge to Summit - Water?

Somebody last week asked a question about water without any response, so I am hoping another post might generate some! Any water flowing anywhere (i.e. Little Round Valley) or any of the little streams along the way? Thanks in Advance!

Had hiked this in September and only a trickle in Little Round Valley - the headwaters of the San Jac were dry ---- but there did look like a green spot 100 yds below the trail. I'd not count on any h20 but the trees are NOT drinking as much so traditionally intermintent sources sometimes tend to start flowing again.

At last report LRV did not have water, although, as has been pointed out, some sources have come back after the September rains.

Round Valley typically has water, but you may want to confirm with the State Park Rangers before you assume anything. (and of course there's water at the upper tram station)

There haven't been a lot of postings about water. Some of this lack is due to the recent forest closure -- no hikers, no water reports.

As of 5PM Saturday (Nov. 17) there was water running from the tap in Round Valley but the water must be purified before drinking (posted sign).

And by the way, that is one water source that you ABSOLUTELY do want to purify.

I have hiked through Round Valley at least a hundred times and have NEVER purified water coming from the spigot. NEVER. And I've never had a problem. Most agencies don't test water but put out signs just in case.

Now maybe I'm just lucky. Or it could be I'm tougher than anything I could get from drinking unfiltered water. So until I now for sure there is something impure in that water I'm not wasting my time filtering.

This thread from the summer of 2006 is interesting.

Today I spoke with somebody who got giardia from the Round Valley faucet. (He did not eat at the old restaurant. Very Happy ) The last time the state park cleaned out the tank there were rats in there, so that makes sense that even though it's an "underground source" there is giardia which is normally present in above-ground sources. A lot of people, including myself, have taken that water straight without purifying, but apparently they put that warning sign there for good reason.

Mmmm! Rat flavored water! My favorite.

I guess maybe in the future I'll just forgo the spigot in Round Valley and carry my water. I think I can get by until I can get back to the bar for a cold one. Or two.

Reminds me of the animated movie Ratatouille. Those rats may have been gourmet chefs looking for fresh spring water for a bouillabaisse. Who are we to judge?

I'll carry my own water regardless.
