Cy's Birthday Nov 24

Postby Ellen » Fri Nov 16, 2007 12:29 pm

Howdy all :D

I've just learned that Cy will be celebrating a significant birthday on Saturday November 24. While I'd love to have a surprise birthday for THE MAN, I'm afraid he knows too many people to plan a party secretly

How about a Skylie get-together in Long Valley to share the big event?

For those of you who organized the barbecue in the summer, how do we go about setting this up?

I'm happy to bring home-made bread.

Cy -- what kind of cake do you like?

Skylie Karin Meyer has suggested that Skyline be renamed Cyline 8)

Miles of smiles,
Ellen

Oh man!...I just finished getting my cloak and dagger on and Ellen breaks the story to the press. Well in that case I just want to state that I never volunteer to help Jim haul an amazing quantity of alcohol and food to the top of the tram.

But if the sentiment of the crowd is to have a party then perhaps I happen to have a mule or two to help get some provisions on top the mountain!

Cy's birthday Nov 24

Postby Cy Kaicener » Fri Nov 16, 2007 1:30 pm

Ellen - Thanks for thinking of me, but I am a little bit embarrassed. Who wants to be reminded that they are Seventy. :) Thanks but I dont eat cake. I want to keep my boyish figure. When I was younger I used to be called Cyborg and Cyclone. Now reCYcled would be more appropriate. If we can all get together again, a party is as good an excuse as any. The last one was great - just a good old get together for the heck of it.

Stand up and be proud, Cy. Seventy is an accomplishment, particularly for someone who is still doing Skyline regularly.

Hi Cy,

A long while back you took a moment to give me a few words of encouragement on the Museum Trail. I was in bad shape, in need of fluids, in need of carbs and in need of oxygen. At the time I weighed in at almost 310 lbs and was probably about 10 minutes from the picnic tables. I would go no further that morning.

Sitting on the little hill above the tables, I caught sight of you continuing on up the trail and out of sight. I decided right then I wanted to be like Cy.

Thank you for all your encouragement, great news updates and interesting stories from around the world of hiking and climbing. Thank you for showing me the pace I should use above flat rock to keep me from dying before the trees.

I'll happily attend a party in your honor. Please let us know what time you'll be coming into Long Valley.

Cy's birthday - Nov 24

Thanks Walt. I would leave somewhere around 4.30 am which would get me up there around 1pm. How about everyone hiking up from the museum?

Good idea, but there wouldn't be much in the way of party supplies at the top. :)
