Tahquitz Peak on Friday

Postby Florian » Thu Jun 18, 2015 2:59 pm

I'll be staffing the Tahquitz Peak fire lookout tomorrow, Friday. I expect there will be more people than usual hiking in the SJ mtns now that the SG wilderness is closed. If you happen to be one of those people come up and say hi at the tower tomorrow. I'll be on-duty from 9a to 5p.

Florian,

Do you ever get any Saturday duty? Not sure I could get Joycie all the way up the S Ridge Trail, but maybe Devil's Slide and up the back way.

Jim, i was there for season opening on Sat, 5/23, but generally i prefer weekdays. I'll be there next on Fri, 7/3. However no hosts have signed up yet for Sat, 7/4. If no one else chooses to cover the Fourth of July i may cover it myself.

I'm going to be staying in Idylliwild Aug 1 through 9. Any chance you will be 'manning the tower' on Thursday or Friday of that week?

Cynthia, looks like the tower is already staffed through the 7th. I may do the 8th or 9th but haven't signed up yet. I'll let you know.

I have a permit for the SGW for 4th of July weekend (Dry Lake from S Fork), but given that the S Fork trailhead just burned over this morning...

:( :( Sorry HJ ...

Florian do let me know if you end up manning the tower on the 8th (though I can't promise we'll come up that day, because my daughter is performing at Idyllwild Arts sometime that day. But maybe if we got up there early enough ...) I doubt we could make it the 9th.

I'll be staffing Tahquitz Peak again tomorrow, 7/3, 8a to 5p, and then again Saturday afternoon, 7/4, 12p to 5p. Come on up! But remember fire restrictions are in place so NO wood nor charcoal fires, NO smoking, and NO fireworks in the forest.
