Thank you Z. It's true that I worked pretty hard to feel ready for the earlier attempt that fell through and luckily I kept at it, so I was prepared for it when Nick suggested it at a later date. I too think of the background efforts at training, despite daily life, that must have happened when I read of stuff like your recent comment about having done Skyline in the heat. Anybody who thinks they can do something like that without the persistent hard work over a long period of time is in for a rude awakening...in the hospital if they're lucky. I'm digressing from this thread but I believe that a lot of people see SAR go in and out of a rescue situation and think, "Well, the rescuee was probably a dummy, if the SAR people could do it so easily than so can I." They just don't realize what kind of experience and continual training SAR folks may have under their belts.
