The closure area marked on my map is based on the map posted by the US Forest Service on the internet. That's good hard data. I know there's some stuff closed in the state section, but I'll be darned if I can find anything that I can plot on a map. For now, I've plotted what I have solid data on.

Round Valley spigot dry today, 5/30.

Rumor has it that they're only letting water flow out of the spigot in Round Valley at certain times of day. Can anyone confirm that rumor or is it just wishful thinking?

There was a bit of water in the creek east of RV.

Florian, is the water in the creek standing pools or is it actually flowing?

Very low flow but water appeared clear. There was a small group of campers filtering from it.

As usual, good water flow in the creeks on the Deer Springs Trail between the Seven Pines Junction and about 1/2 mile or so before Little Round Valley. I took the Marion Mtn Trail to SJ Peak. I didn't see water flowing in the creek that runs near the trail in Little Round Valley, but I didn't wander off trail in that area; so I'm not sure if there's water available in Little Round Valley.

Nice to know it's still flowing. You couldn't plot a point on a map, could you? Or give a GPS derived coordinate?

Jim, the water flowing below Round Valley is roughly from the word "Valley" on your map, off and on to the first wooden bridge below the Sid Davis Crossing on your map. It of course includes the "pools".

Thank you. What I need to do is follow the creek up with a GPS unit. In the mean time, I've put a blue dot every so often along the creek bed marked "Seasonal Pools/Flow - II". Have a look: San Jacinto Water.

Oddly, in most years the spigot in Round Valley will be running long after all the pools in Long Valley Creek are completely dry. This year, the opposite appears to be true, probably because of the late rains. At least for now, I'm leaving the spigot rating at "III" and the pools at "II".

I did the Strawberry loop from the tram in a clockwise manner with Ellen and other friends today. When we got to the Deer Springs crossing we were dismayed and confused as to why there is STILL that stupid pipe running down the DRY stream bed, under the trail, and down to where that CCC camp used to be. It makes me very angry, as it looks as though someone is diverting water from Deer Springs. Maybe there is a logical explanation for this...I would like to know so that I can stop being so ticked off.

On a happier note, we found abundant water in what I THINK is Bed Springs. There was actually a small waterfall that I was able to put my head under so I could soak my overheated brain. Dang, it was hot today!

Jim - Yes, I think you have the correct location for Candy's Creek. It does seem like a number of years since the Candy's Creek sign was removed by someone. No doubt that person moved on. I haven't been there for a couple of years. In the past it was common to see a Mariposa Lily at Candy's Creek.
