Skyline this Sat 3/14 + Yaktrax Question

Postby mattytreks » Fri Mar 13, 2015 11:59 am

Planning on heading out around 5-6am tomorrow. Perhaps I'll run into some of you.

Hoping for no ice or snow on the traverse. Is that wishful thinking?

Hi Ohiker,

Not sure. I'd like to know too. Give us an update after your attempt if you get a chance. Lots of new snow about 10 days ago, but since then it's been warm lots of nights not even freezing up at Mtn station overnight.

Check the trip write-up of the Mt. San Jacinto Hiking Club for tomorrow. They are planning on snow, and requiring trekking poles and microspikes.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'll be bringing my microspikes for sure..

Question to all...

My girlfriend is joining me tomorrow and I'm wondering if her combination of Yaktrax Pro's and trekking poles will be sufficient for any icy conditions we might hit?
