Downed Tree Report -- FSVA Contacts?

Postby Hikin_Jim » Tue Feb 17, 2015 10:47 pm

I encountered a couple of downed trees when I was out yesterday. One big one just east of Saddle Junction on the Caramba Trail and another on the S Ridge Trail. Does anyone have any contacts with the Forest Service Volunteer Association? I assume they'd be the ones to clear the downed trees.

Hi Jim. The FS volunteers, and the staff guy, are pretty good about the downed trees on the main trails. In a typical year (with snow) they wouldn't be doing any tree removal until summer. I'll bring your report to their attention next time I see any of them. So dry up there. Going to be a very scary fire season if we don't get some snow soon. Glad to see some interest in volunteer fire lookouts for Tahquitz on another thread on this board. They are much needed and welcomed.

Please do let the FSVA folks know. The positions are waypointed in the GPS track I posted in the thread about ice on the South Ridge Trail.

I'll try to post photos when I get home.
