Name of the canyon or trail to falls in Palm Springs please.

Know the name? This hike/trail I have not found on-line, nor is it an official trail, but a well traveled trail easy to follow and most interesting and beautiful as well. I believe the land is BLM; starting at the southern entrance to the South Lykken Trail (trail head on South Palm Canyon Drive after Murray Drive), make a left on the trail directly before the South lykken begins its uphill assent. Follow trail across wash and around the small hill and begin your journey up the prominent canyon. You will encounter some very large boulders in the canyon floor in which the trail will go under some and around others. No climbing if one stays on the trail. In about one hour and a half from the start you will arrive at the end; I say its as beautiful as Tahquitz Falls. Three levels of rock water falls with pools of water. A waterfall dropping down a way high strange black, crumbly rock surface...toads creaking, hawks watching. Solitude in a bowl.
Also, there was a burn earlier that turned a portion of the trail into a black, ashey muck....but it was a dry muck and easy to walk through (done in December this year)...although it makes the hiking experience very unusual. Watch for those tiny death star stickers.
...as for google maps, from south to north there is Murray Cyn, (Agua), Andreas Cyn. (Agua), than I suppose the name of this one.
Who knows it? I know this is the forum for these kind of questions. Thank You.
P.S., there are no signs or fences entering into this canyon.

I have been told that its called Cahullia canyon. Its a nice little hike. I scrambled up above the waterfall once but above that it was a brutal tangle of Cat's Claw.

I generally refer to that as Cahuilla Canyon. It also goes by old Indian name of Oswit, or sometimes Os Wit. It's a lovely canyon.

I have only ever heard it called Oswit Canyon. I didn't know that was a Cahuilla name, Florian--interesting!

It's a good hike for people with kids--it's not too far or too hard and there's something fun--i.e. water--at the end. :D

@Jjimson; amazing you went beyond the Oswit Falls (unless your a rope/gear fella). Trails that pose challenges my fav; ever do the 'rock' in Wentworth Canyon? I did safely but good reason its closed (they put in detour trail)

Thanks for the replies. l! I'll go with Oswit Canyon. The other sounds like it came from "What's the name of that thar canyon Buck?, oh, that's just another one of thems cahuilla canyons Roy."

One more? (maybe nitty gritty not encouraged here? Just my backyard, y'all) Going direct south now from that same exact area, I suppose maybe there still is another canyon (if its size qualifies it)...with trail and maybe with another canyon name. I hiked up it once in order to reach a small oasis of palms. Came close; not sticker bushes or high rock, but a black security van parked at the top of Acanto Road looking down on me gave me pause. The trail is usable-but rugged with scrub before one hits the palm oasis. The point worth going for is the giant rock (like a giant tortoise shell) that houses above and protects from the elements a large sand area with various old (and some looking more recent) fire pits along the edges. The location is at the first bend past entrance in the canyon's base. The problem here is the barb wire fence (meant to control livestock but am told now that its also to include me) that runs along blocking the canyon's entrance along Acanto Road. So this canyon (if it is one) is between Andreas Canyon and Oswit Canyon.
I can not really recommend this trail since one must shimmy through a barb wire fence (littered with 'no trespassing' signs) to reach it, but there is a decent opening directly before the trail head. Probably on Indian land but not an area they mention on any of their visitor maps. Anyone else know the name or been there?

On a side note: Another trail (another 'unofficial' one) to a small palm oasis one can see from the South Lykken trailhead is open, freely accessible and worth doing if one has not yet. I give it five stars. The trail runs along the top of the gully, rising gradually to the palms. You make it to the palms...the cool part are the amazing rock waterfalls you see along the trail in the gully......but I won't ask you for the name of it; its just another one of them 'Cahuilla Canyons'.

Some very interesting terrain that I would like to explore is the upper parts of Andreas and Murray canyons which look accessible from Maynard Mine by scrambling down. Anyone have beta?

There is a trail from Maynard Mine down to the creek in Murray Canyon. It's unmaintained but shouldn't be too hard to pick it out. Long long ago a friend and i hiked to the mine then down and out via Murray Canyon. I remember lots of drop-offs and getting very wet. Was probably about 40 years ago!
