Yes, you were absolutely clear, as I said. What is not clear is what route 63ChevyII was interested in. Perhaps he could tell us, before people fire off more advice to him on what may be a different route than the one he had in mind.

You have a point Ed. Although the replies refer to the main ridge off of 22, 63chevell wasn't specific on which route to take. I've found that any route other than the main ridge can end up taking almost as much time once you factor in the approach and steep/rugged incline.

Another fun trip that's an off trail desert trip is the east ridge of martinez..6000 over 5 miles with parking at east end of boohoff trail.

Sorry for not being more clear. I have edited the original post to reflect my intentions of hiking Rabbit via Villager Peak. I haven't been able to hike much since Sept, so this hike worries me a bit, but I may not have a better opportunity to do it before I move back east.

I am leaning towards doing WT, but have yet to talk to my brother and father-in-law to see what their preference is. I am very interested in the route that bluerail explains. If I don't do it for this particular trip, I'll hike it at some point this winter.

once in the campground, head through the campground to the west end, ( i dont go down to the boy scout th ) from the western most campsite you can find a use trail that keeps going west and intersects the boy scout trail, turn left and follow it back to your car, this section of trail is beautiful in late day.

Your route sounds similar to what Dan describes, just starting in different spots and hiking in opposite direction.

Don't know about Rabbit but if you were also wanting info on Wonderland Traverse a good loop option is starting in Indian Cove and going up Gunsight Notch, follow that through to Boy Scout Trail for a bit, connect with Willow Hole Trail, do the traverse. You pop out on the east side of Indian Cove and walk through campground to west side unless you do car shuttle.

With no GPS I estimated it at about 9 miles with lots of rock scrambling. A friend and I moved quickly and did it in 4.5 hours and that is when I was able to do a 5 hr Skyline. Didn't see a soul out there until the end of Rattlesnake Canyon. I liked it because of the no need for car shuttle.

yes the use trail does start in that end , you can see where the boy scout trail is on the map west of the campground

parking in Indian Cove lets you skip out on the entry fee of JT. I like that because I am a cheap bastard!!

We ended up hiking WT with the loop through Gunsight Notch. It took us 9 hrs including breaks.
