Yeah, I think I agree with you Perry, especially since I now find myself recovering from some nasty little bug which needless to say I wouldn't want to pass on to others. Let's just wait a while until the board has 'rebooted' itself in terms of viewership.

Well, crud. Yesterday would have been fine for Joycie and me, but I had been avoiding the board for a while because it just wasn't working. It kept timing out. Sorry guys.

I'm getting laid off (yes, again, 4th time a job* has ended in 3 years; gotta love it) effective Nov 28. Hopefully I can spend some time outdoors in December before job hunting in earnest in January.

Hi all. I've been a bit out of touch as well lately, but here's my 2 cents...

When we've planned a get together anywhere except Long Valley, it has been either canceled or had about 8 people attend.

When we've planned a get together in Long Valley, it has taken place and had 2 to 3 times that many people.

Simply put, we find ourselves connected largely through this board and our common interest in Skyline/C2C and Mt. San Jacinto in general. The simplest and most successful get togethers will probably continue to follow the pattern we have seen so far. I really enjoy the people on this board and have attended most of the get togethers, so I'd like to see further successful attempts. In short, you can't argue with success, and we all love Skyline, so perhaps just set a date and approximate time in Long Valley and see who shows up?

As far as the little ones, as long as they don't have an upper respiratory infection, the tram ride will probably have no effect on them whatsoever. If Lily or Joyce were to attend, coming up by way of Skyline (with a couple of adults who are willing to help carry them) then I'd be willing to wear the kiddie backpack for a few shifts as we hiked up together. It would be a grand adventure.

In any case, those are my two cents!

Just a note for FWIW: I started taking Joycie over 10,000' in the Sierra and locally at age 9 months. It didn't affect her at all physiologically. Of course she's got "mountain in her blood" coming from my line.

The hardest part with kids in my experience is carrying them when they get tired. And of course you've got to keep an eye on them and carry supplies. But it's pretty doable with one child. Having to carry two children? Not so much.
