So Pete “RMRUpete” wants to go out on a little hike. I suggest a quick canyoneering trip, he suggests climbing nine >10,000ft peaks in the San Jacintos in one day… Pete has ~50 years of hiking in these mountains so of course I say yes! Who can pass up getting some of that knowledge? We head up on the first tram car and start our trip about 8:20am. On the way to the Sid Davis trail we meet up with Ellen, Sally and crew! My first time meeting them so there are many hugs and promises of tasty adult beverages should we meet later in the mountains.
Pete leads the way and we start heading on a direct cross country route. We meet the main trail and then proceed to the top of Miller, San Jacinto, Folly, Newton Drury, Unnamed “Joyce” peak, Mount Ellen, Marion Mountain, Shirley Peak and finally Jean Peak.
1.) Miller Peak

2.) San Jacinto Peak

3.) Folley Peak

4.) Newton Drury Peak

5.) Unamed "Joyce" Peak

6.) Mount Ellen

7.) Marion Mountain

8.) Shirley Peak

9.) Jean Peak

All went great with Pete leading the way most of the time. Out of the 12 miles we hiked, only about 4 of those were on established trails. While on Mount Ellen we met up again with the namesake of the mountain! Those promises made earlier in the day came true and make for tasty break, Scottish style. Such a fun group of people! We talked for a bit but head out to keep moving as we still had a few more peaks to go. I got to show Pete a different route to the top of Marion. His normal route was some 5.12 30ft climb, I took him up the 3rd class chimney with a 4th class variation.
We finished off the last of the peaks and made our way for the Tram to enjoy a beer and a burger! Twas a great day in the high country! Total Mileage was 12.0, Elevation gain was ~4,500ft, Total Time was 8 Hours 20 minutes from Tram to Tram.
