Hiking photos from 2 weeks ago

Since we're all suffering from hiking withdrawals, I thought I'd share some photos from a hike to Mt. San Jacinto via Marion Mtn from about two weeks ago.

This was the second of three hikes I was trying to do and it was by far the most enjoyable. The fall weather and scenery created an incredibly peaceful atmosphere and the trail conditions were just awesome. Slightly damp soil, pine needles and fallen leaves made the ground soft, but springy--a hiker's dream.

Tim, Thanks for the photo journey, I can feel the mist from the shots.
Congrats on the 3 summits, the hard part is getting from 1 to the other on the roads!

Thanks SS, glad you enjoyed the photo journey. That's what I like about hiking--it's always a journey.

I think you are right about the hard part being the roads from one to the other. Although I always seem to hit the wall at that last mile to San G. I wonder if anyone has ever done all three in one day (24 hrs), given how far apart they are. I'm sure someone has tried it.

This guy did a version of all three in a day that included the tram. He speculates on how to do it tram free.

Here is a report from a guy who did the 3 Saints on September 16-17, 2006 in under 24 hours with no tram.

Cool, thanks for the links, guys. I didn't even know it had a name: 3 Saints Day. I'm impressed that 64 people finished the 8000m Challenge. It's hard enough to do the 3 Saints in 3 days, much less one! Although I have admit, it is an intriguing challenge...hmmm.
