Has anyone been up to San Jacinto recently? I'm wondering if the spring at Round Valley is flowing, or if there's another spring within a mile or two that might have water. Please let me know. Thanks!

There was a trickle in Round Valley on Wednesday.

Is the spring at Round Valley the only water source in that area? Planning on a three night backpacking trip up there but may have to change plans if there's no water.

Anyone know the H2O situation along the Deer Springs Trail or in Little Round Valley? Planning an overnight trip for the end of September and trying to figure out if I'm going to need to hike all the water in with the drought we're having.

Hiked Marion Mountain trail today. The only good water I encountered is where the runoff from Bed springs crosses the trail shortly before Little Round Valley. You can fill a liter bottle from a rivulet in less than 10 seconds, good clear water. A CamelBak All Clear works better than a filter pump. The usual water source near Deer Springs trail camp has been dry for a couple months now.

Does anyone know if the spring is still flowing at Round Valley campground? Last I heard there was a trickle. Also, are there any other water sources in that area?

As far as I know, the Deer Springs trail camp is in the state wilderness and is operated by California state employees for various purposes, including temporary housing for trail maintenance staff, etc. I don't think you can camp there, but I could be wrong.
