Deer Springs trail - water and parking?

Postby hikingMoJo » Sat Jun 21, 2014 5:09 pm

Is there a parking lot near the Dear Springs trail head? Do I need a permit to park there (will be backpacking 2 nights next week).

I was planning to stay at Strawberry Creek, but it sounds like water will be an issue. Is the nearest source Bed Springs?

thx,

mojo

Yes you need a permit and you can park there. Across the street iirc. To camp at strawberry you will need a state camping permit, 5$ per person per night. Bed springs is the only good source of water on that side.

Hi guys!!

Any updates on the spring conditions?

I'm backpacking Deer Springs on 4th of July and camping that night at Little Round Valley, our group is quite nervous the springs will be dry.

Any good word??

I was just there last week and it was gorgeous!

There was a trickling spring about 10-20 minutes past Strawberry junction on the Deer Springs trail. I had to reach in with a cup -- tight squeeze. I'm not sure if that one will still be flowing.

The creek was flowing about 1/2 mile before you get to little round valley - plenty of water there.
