I can't post on the main topic. Here's what I meant to post:

Jim H. and Keith, thank you both for the suggestions and offers to help. I'll email you guys tomorrow night...

Hopefully there's an easy solution to this. If, however, it involves very tedious code changes and hours of research, it appears there are enough offers of funding to make it worth your time.

Looks like you are making some progress!

FWIW, this forum is enough compensation for whatever help I can provide.

Not sure if this will help, but here is the code that is failing:

216 if ( $value_sql != '' )
217 {
218 switch ( SQL_LAYER )
219 {
220 case 'mysql':
221 case 'mysql4':
222 $sql = "INSERT IGNORE INTO " . SEARCH_WORD_TABLE . " (word_text, word_common)
223 VALUES $value_sql";
224 break;
225 case 'mssql':
226 case 'mssql-odbc':
227 $sql = "INSERT INTO " . SEARCH_WORD_TABLE . " (word_text, word_common)
228 $value_sql";
229 break;
230 }
231
232 if ( !$db->sql_query($sql) )
233 {
234 message_die(GENERAL_ERROR, 'Could not insert new word', '', __LINE__, __FILE__, $sql);
235 }

The "INSERT IGNORE" on line 222 is being executed, so the code thinks we are talking to a MySQL v4.x database. But, that statement fails for some reason when run on line 232 so we get the GENERAL_ERROR message on line 234.
