Postby nobohiker » Sun Mar 30, 2014 4:57 pm

Sharing pictures and videos of my Friday to Sunday trip from the Tram -> San Jacinto Peak -> Pacific Crest Trail -> Snow Canyon, 30 Miles total.
Watching the sunset and the sunrise from the peak was amazing. Early spring is a great time of the year to head up there!

Hi nobohiker,
"Liked" your video a lot! It looked like one of those magical moments to catch the sunrise and sunset from the peak. I loved looking down at the clouds and seeing the shadow of the mountain cast below. That's a long, beautiful hike. Great job!

@Sally, you found the right word - its definitively a magic moment to be up there at sunrise/sunset, especialy when no one else is around.

@bamm321, I'm still undecided if sunset or sunrise was my favorite part ;-)

Nice Video. I have not been there for over 30 years. Will return next month with my son, He said he wanted to try it so what the heck. He is 26 and I was 26 when I was last there!

South Ridge Trail conditions

Postby Tannikae » Fri Apr 11, 2014 4:21 pm

I'm planning to hike the South Ridge trail via Wellman Divide to San Jacinto peak tomorrow. Does this route go thru areas that burned last year? Thanks.

Hi Tannikae, I have done South Ridge Trail to San J Peak, and it is a long ambitious hike! And a beautiful one at that! I haven't been up South Ridge since the fire, and although you may see evidence of the fire from some of the views, I don't think the route actually goes through any burn areas.

Get an early start and enjoy!

(I believe I wrote a trip report with a link to my pics on Picasa. It's been a few years)

Sally, thanks so much for the trail report and great pics! Conditions tomorrow may be similar to your hike as it looks like I might get a little rain or snow in the morning. Happy hiking, Tannika
