I WAS interested until I saw the bicycle time trial was eliminated this year in favor of an uphill running race. Seems odd the promoters would eliminate the bicyclists in favor of runners when there are soo many runners at the Long Beach Marathon this weekend.

Yep! Zip? Maybe we can meet up... 760 808-2205 cell

I don't know why there's no bike race this year. Maybe the race director was too busy to do both again. The running race has been going for I think 20 years, so it's not like it replaced the biking race. The bike race has only been run last year and the year before. The running race had significantly more people.

I won't be there this year Ryan, I'm down at the Long Beach Marathon for a change of pace. (No pun intended). Glad to see you're back out this way again, though. If you do Skyline in the next few weeks be sure to post and maybe we'll see each other on the trail.

Perry - good luck out there. By the way, to get a good time, you might want to start at the same time as the other runners! I heard Baldy was challenging in more ways than one. Have fun out there! Wish me luck from mile 20 to 26 - those are mean miles for me.

Tram Road Challenge tomorrow

Postby Cy Kaicener » Sat Oct 13, 2007 10:33 am

I saw Perry and Ryan flying up the road today. Perry was in third place about a third of the way up waiting for the right moment to pass. Ryan was not too far behind. I walked up at my usual leisurely pace. I walked up twice. It was great to get a ride down on the bus. :)

Hey Cy! Great to run by you earlier today! It was unfortunate that I was unable to stop and chat with you, but, well, I was in a hurry! I hope to run into you again soon. Perry, you're an animal dude! Great time! Let me know when you attempt that sub-4 hr C2C extravaganza. Congrats to all those who ran today! Stan, good luck with the LB marathon, let us know how you do!!! See everyone next year!

Thanks Ryan. It was good to see you there. I'm thinking about attempting the sub-4 on Thursday or Saturday or Sunday. If anybody wants to meet me at the museum, hand me a GPS device, ride the tram up, hike to the peak, and immediately take the GPS device from me to prove that I did not take shortcuts... Some of the mountain climbing records have controversy, so I would like to start a standard of credibility... Zip, how did the marathon go? Cy, I was breathing too hard to say very much, but it was a nice surprise to see you on the road.

Here are the results of the race. Perry came in second less than a minute behind the leader and Ryan 22 - Congratulations on a great run.

When I ran four years ago it took me 57 minutes :)
Thirty minutes is over 4000 ft gain per hour.

Hi everyone, I'm back in town. The marathon was fun, though a little warm for my taste. Very pretty down at the beach, though. As always, lots of friendly folks having a great time. Still, I think I like the longer distances to be on trails - I'm pretty sore this time. After a while, that asphalt hurts. Next year, I'll probably be back for the Tram Road Challenge.

Glad to hear you guys posted excellent times - nice job! Hope to see some of you on the trail soon!

I'd weep, but I'd be too out of breath.
