going up c2c 10/13?

Postby mook » Wed Oct 10, 2007 1:09 am

anyone going up this weekend? second time for 2 of us (last time was 03 i think). 3 newbies. was going to start from ramon at around 6 hoping to hit the tram by 1.

is there an advantage to parking at the museum? i was gonna head to ramon only cause thats what i did last time? which requires less walking? :)

thanks! see you there.

Going up c2c 10/13

Postby Cy Kaicener » Wed Oct 10, 2007 5:14 am

A guy called Udi who has done it many times is leaving from the museum at around 6 am. This route is steeper than Ramon Road but a mile shorter and closer to come back from the tram. If I decide to go i would leave much earlier. I might hike up the road (Tram Road Challenge) and then take the tram up. I will definately be doing Skyline next Saturday.

Reminder

Please remember that the tram ride down is no longer free, as it has been in the past. It does cost $11 per person to ride down the tramway now.

That kind of cracks me up. Yes, those hordes of Skyliners are practically bankrupting the system. What % do Skylies constitute of the ridership? 0.05%? Well, I guess business is business. A dozen Skylies on a Saturday is $132 bucks.

choices

Mook,
If you use the north Lykken trail (end of Ramon), watch where you park, the dirt lot just by the trailhead is posted no parking now I believe.
There are a couple side streets close, but you are in front of someones house, haven't heard of anyone complaining, just be quite in the am.

It's more gradual, but, as Cy mentioned longer, I's say 1/2 mile, maybe more. The Museum starts steep right off, I'd park behind the Starbucks (Tahquitz & Palm Cyn) in the public parking (unless that lot has a time limit), which will at least give you 2 blk warm up. Also, a few cars that parked across from the Museum were broke into, cops have been notified & are hopefully patrolling more. Trailhead is on the north side of Museum. When you reach the picnic benches, stay to the south of the little hill, trail goes down 20 ft, then to a jct, veer right & you'll see Skyline / Long Valley signs.
