Forecast for Skyline, Nov 16th

I was hoping to get in another Skyline Trip before winter conditions. I took a look at the forecast today (first time since Tues when the conditions looks great) and saw this:

Friday Night A 30 percent chance of snow showers after 10pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 34. West wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Saturday A 30 percent chance of snow showers before 10am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 48. Breezy, with a west wind 20 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

With the high winds predicted for much of the area Saturday, I wonder if the tram being shut down is a possibility.

A little rain doesn't concern me much, but descending via Skyline Trail would!

Thoughts anyone?

I've been wondering the same thing. Have been planning to go back this Saturday and have been checking weather updates but wondered about the tram's operating hours. :/

They do sometimes shut the tram down if the winds get heavy.

Bottom line, the wind should not be strong enough to cause closure of the Tram.

How high gusts or sustained WOULD they shut down for?

They did it last year during a very severe storm, but I think that was pretty much the first time that ever happened. (correct me if I'm wrong, people.) Certainly it's not a common event.

Thanks for the input everyone. I tend to be overly cautious.

I believe they shut the tram down within the last month due to high winds. Otherwise, I probably wouldn't have thought about it as a possibility.

Apparently, the winds have to be 60-70mph before they would think about closing the tram.

In Chino Canyon (I believe) and Whitewater Canyon Preserve I was seeing wind gusts predicted at 50+ mph.
