Help please! Boo Hoff

Postby Forty » Sat Nov 09, 2013 5:51 pm

A friend and I are looking for a good hike tomorrow of about 4-5 hours in length. The Boo Hoff Trail loop claims to be only 12 miles in the Afoot & Afield book but they claim it takes about 8 hours to complete. That seems like a pretty slow pace as the hike doesn't appear to have any really intense gain. Anyone have experience with the Boo Hoff loop? If yes, what's your take on the time it takes to complete? All other comments on the trail are welcome as well.

Thanks!

PS: If I only have 5 hours is the Bear Creek hike shorter in time to complete?

Yea its not 8 hours hehe...As i recall it was maybe 5 hours to do the loop. bear creek was around 3 1/2 hours maybe as i recall. But its been quite a while.

I've noticed that the times in the hiking books are very inflated for the most part. i remember the book i looked at for the murray peak hike listed it as 5 hours...was a lil overprepared for that one :)

Thanks bamm.

I've done Murray Hill twice from Vons taking the long way to Wildhorse and reaching Murray Hill peak from the south via the backside of the Clara Burgess. That route is 11 miles roundtrip, with almost 2800ft of total gain and it has taken me about 3:50 both times. So unless there is serious gain, or the trail is beach sand it is hard for me to believe that the Boo Hoff loop at 12 miles would take me 8 hours.

Thanks for the help.
