Iphone trail mapping app with track for skyline?

I searched the forum before posting, please point me if I missed this.

My GPS just died! Had a perfect track for my last two skylines. I am left now with buying a new GPS (so don't want too) or using my friends Iphone.
But I am smart phone cluesless.

Searched online, and of course there are LOADs of apps, but I need this forums help as I want the track for skyline.

So my question: What is the app to use on an Iphone that allows me to load a track for skyline. And how do I load that track, just from an email?

For instance I see the paid version of GaiaLite, lets me load GPX tracks, is this what I need?

Not looking for turn by turn, just my position relative to a track.... and not looking for a dashboard view...just a dot on a map relative to a track..

I am fairly confident I can find my way up my favorite mountain just fine, but no reason not to have a backup.

I don't have too much info to offer but I can say that I have the full version of Gaia on my iPhone (Verizon) and it is awesome. I especially like the many layer options on the maps. My main complaint though is that there is no way to put the phone in Airplane mode and keep the GPS function. That said, any of these apps in the backcountry are big battery hogs when your phone is searching for signal. Other than that I think they're as good if not better than a stand alone GPS. Just something to consider.

I recommend it as it has nearly every feature you need to survive including downloading map tiles ahead of time in case you are out of cell range.

Gaia works great. I use it when I don't want to take along my heavier GPS. It should work great for skyline.

Gaia is probably what I will use.
And yes, I know all about running stuff in the background. This will likely only be turned on in a crunch...but no crunch expected.

Its decision time for me, some help please.
Heading to the airport at 3am, for a Tuesday C2C, hopefully .

I have the beatup, tried and tested non waterproof shoes (1 C2C on them, and lots of local stuff). And I have the bought a week ago, tested a wee bit, fancy dancy new waterproof hiking shoes. These were in anticipation of potential snow and ice towards the peak.

Sooooo.....which do I choose . Does the peak look like it needs fancy dancy, or tried and true?

their was a lil a snow toward the top of the mountain on saturday. but I did the c2c comfortably in sandals. I would keep an eye on the weather though
