My hike mate and I have done several of your suggestions so far, and every one rocked!

Well, cool!

Speaking of useful, I wasn't really satisfied with the clarity of the maps I was using. I've started swapping those out for (hopefully) clearer maps: "Improved" San Gorgonio Wilderness Maps.

Only the first map is in the new style. If you have a moment, please compare the first map to the other maps, please, and give me your feedback.

Thanks!!!

Everything stands out better on the new style. I can read it easier and the trail markings pop out at you.
You can still see the contour marks under the yellow trail mark.

OK, good. Thanks. I had some of the same thoughts. Wish I could get even higher resolution... but no such luck just yet. The process of marking them up reduces the resolution.

I'm continuing to update my San Gorgonio Wilderness Trails post. I now have just updated the Momyer - Vivian loop map. On the maps, I've added symbols to indicate water sources (water droplets). I'll eventually write text to accompany the water information on the maps.
