C2C first timer looking for hiker 11/2 or 10/29

I'm a 50-something who has done Whitney and comparable. Determined to do C2C but have been advised to find a veteran hiker for desert to tram portion. Can do Wed or Sat.

Howdy Lori :)

I recommend joining the San Jacinto hiking club meet up group:

In Skyline season (now), we usually go up Skyline every Saturday and divide into groups based on pace.

I won't be available on Tuesday October 29 but will probably join the club for Skyline on Saturday Nov 2.

Miles of smiles,
Ellen

I will be going up Nov 2nd, first time as well. Met another avid hiker online that will be joining too. I know you are looking for a veteran hiker but if you are looking for company just let me know! Else-wise, good luck!

Hi Tim,
I've zeroed in on November 2 and plan to leave from the art museum. Would enjoy the company. Just did 3Ts Monday --early snow/ice this year but gorgeous. Any thoughts on a preferred start time? I was thinking 3:30-4:00 but am flexible.

Also should say I'm keeping an eye on the Meet-up website Ellen mentions but so far see no announcement for 11/2. That would be ideal, to be with similar-paced hikers. Thanks for the link, Ellen.

I only see the Coachella Valley Hiking Club having a Skyline hike this Saturday.

The trail isn't bad to follow although I think going from the end of Ramon Road is the more clear path.

Just posting so that I'll get updated when a reply is posted.

I am doing Skyline this Saturday and will possibly turn it into a C2C if we make good time. If I am free, I may try to join you on Nov 2. I've done Skyline 4 or 5 times in the last year, with one of them being part of a C2C.

The first three times I did Skyline I did it from museum and got 'lost' each time. After doing it from Ramon Rd, I decided I'd never do it from the museum again unless someone else was leading.

Yeah, I may be a little confused.

The MeetUp Group says "Mt. San Jacinto Hiking Club" but their URL is

Lori,
I was looking to start at 3am, just to get a little bit more mileage under my belt before sunrise. Also, are you sure you want to start at the museum? I've only heard of people getting lost and recommend starting at Ramon Rd. As of now it is myself and someone I found online through Instagram, plus a few of her friends. Let me know what you think about what I've just posted and maybe we can talk more about meeting up!

Happy trails
