There isn't really any camping nearby. A Motel 6 up by the freeway. The trail heads are either downtown or next to a residential area close to downtown. If sleeping in the car, you may be asked to move. Perhaps the 10 rest stop or north of the freeway somewhere around Hwy. 62.
It's Chris I was actually looking to see if i could find your # for some info on this before i came across this forum. But i dont really talk to Will or Steph anymore.
Come a long way since doing the bump n grinds with you back then. No more sitting at a desk all day! Seeing you do that actually inspired and motivated me to get to the point where i am now . Couldnt find any excuses after seeing you blow through it hahah.
The rest area might be alright, not sure. Desert Hot Springs is not a good area for sleeping in your car. Parking under a street lamp at Walmart is probably safer.

My trailrunning buddy was asking me about running up Skyline Saturday Sept 28, I will be camping at the beach, so I recommended he get together with Steve or Zip. He is getting ready for a long run in the Grand Canyon and wanted to get a Skyline training run, but not familiar with the start of the trail, it has been a few years.
Steve, can I give him the number you posted here and have him call you? Zip I saw you are out of town the that weekend.
