Thanks some guy for the pictures. Your second photo with Tahquitz Peak in the background is the reverse of what i was seeing yesterday. Areas with brown trees and some smaller areas with totally black dead trees. But there is still some green left. We won't really know what remains until next summer.

Also one of your pictures seems to confirm my observation that the fire missed Apache Spring. Not that Apache Spring was all that great after previous fires. Glad it didn't burn again.

Thank you so much for the photos, some guy. Been thirsting for some aerial views post-fire. Good shots.

BTW, not much to work with/glimpse, but appears to be Bell Jet Ranger? Please clarify, if you may.

thanks again,
kind regards,

This satisfies a big desire that I am sure we all shared, to see! A big thank you for a thorough look! Next step, boots on the ground (some day).
The difference between a good hike and a bad one is usually just a reflection of what I bring with me.

Thanks for being my eyes there.

That survivor looks like the same tree I noticed in May, surrounded by coleanthus (which pops up after fires):

Bad, but maybe not as bad as I had feared. Cone Peak looks pretty burnt, but Palm View Peak doesn't look like it got devastated (PVP is something I bypassed on my recent Desert Divide peak bagging trip).

Thanks someguy for the photos! In your second photo, does that show Tahquitz Peak in the background with saddle junction a little closer to you? Does the trail from Saddle junction to Wellmans Divide look like it burned much?

Thanks

The section from Saddle Jct to Wellman Divide wasn't touched at all by the fire as far as I'm aware.

Thanks HJ! - For the past 5 years in October we have hiked from Idyllwild to the tram via Willow Creek trail and we were heartbroken to hear of the fire damage in that area. Hopefully, IF the trail from SJ north to Wellmans opens later this year, we will take that route. Fingers crossed they will re-open it.
